Cosme joined the board in 2020.
He is a heritage conservator with over ten years of professional experience both in his country of origin, Benin, and in France. This job allowed him to see another part of cultural heritage that is often overlooked. When it comes to heritage, one often does not mention languages as an integral part of heritage. However, languages form an essential part of the heritage and deserve also to be preserved and valued. Cosme joined AFV because of the opportunity to promote and enhance the French culture and other Francophone cultures. His vision is to contribute to the promotion of francophone cultures, and to enhance the cooperation and synergy between AFV and other Francophone associations in British Columbia, with an end goal of improving their visibility.
Cosme currently works as a record manager at the French School Board of British Columbia. He is interested in ecolinguistics, especially in aspects related to the preservation and enhancement of languages, sociolinguistics and the teaching of French as a second language.
He holds a master's degree in didactics of languages, cultures and FLE. He is currently a PhD student at the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University.
