Organized by the Consulate General of Greece in Vancouver and EUNIC Canada-Vancouver, in collaboration with the Vancouver Public Library. In december, the EU BOOK CLUB will focus on "The Lame Angel" by Alexis Panselinos. Our book club will take place in person at Alliance Française Vancouver.

Alexis Panselinos (Αλέξης Πανσέληνος) , born in 1943, is a Greek novelist and translator of novels from English and German. His parents were the writers and poets Efie Pliatsika Pansellinos and Assimakis Pansellinos. He spent his life in Athens and was married to the novelist Lucy Dervis.His first book was a collection of four stories, published in 1982. Few years later, in 1986, he published his first novel, The Great Procession (Η Μεγάλη Πομπή), which won the National Novel Prize. In 1997, he was the Greek candidate for the European Prize for Literature (Aristeion) with his third novel, Zaida or the Camel in the Snow (Ζαΐδα ή Η καμήλα στα χιόνια). Many of his books have been translated into Italian, German, English and Polish.

Alexis Panselinos (Αλέξης Πανσέληνος), né en 1943, est un romancier grec et traducteur de romans en anglais et allemand. Ses parents sont les écrivains et poètes Efie Pliatsika Pansellinos et Assimakis Pansellinos. Il a passé sa vie à Athènes et s'est marié avec la romancière Lucy Dervervis.Son premier livre est un recueil de quatre histoires, publié en 1982. Quelques années plus tard, en 1986, il a publié son premier roman, The Great Procession (Η Μεγάλη Πομπή), qui a remporté le Prix National du Roman. En 1997, il a été le candidat grec au Prix Européen de Littérature (Aristeion) avec son troisième roman, Zaïda ou le chameau dans la neige (Ζαΐδα ή Η καμήλα στα χιόνια). Nombre de ses livres ont été traduits en italien, allemand, anglais et polonais.

Reading the book is recommended, but not  necessary.Two hard copies in English will  be available to borrow from the Vancouver Public Library (VPL).
